Svchost.exe is a process on your computer that hosts, or contains, other individual services that Windows uses to perform various functions. For example, Windows Defender uses a service that is hosted by a svchost.exe process.
There can be multiple instances of svchost.exe running on your computer, with each instance containing different services. One instance of svchost.exe might host a single service for a program, and another instance might host several services related to Windows. You can use Task Manager to view which services are running under each instance of svchost.exe.
How to stop svchost.exe from using Internet
There are many ways to completely stop svchost.exe from using internet. Remember, svchost is just a service which executes its process through exe file rather than .dll file. It is not recommended to close all type of the svchost.exe files as many of them are necessary for vital internet process in the computer system. You may follow the given steps to complete disable the svchost.exe (netsvcs).
1st Method:
>>>Go to Start->Run
>>>enter > services.msc
>>>(hit enter)
Find in the list “Background Intelligent Transfer Service” and disable it (put it into “disabled” mode, otherwise it might start alone, even if in “manual” mode).
One more way to Stop BITS:
>>> Go to start and on run write “regedit” and press enter
>>> Now go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetservicesBITS
locate Start registry key
>>> Double click on Start and edit the value:
Change Startup type :Automatic – 2
Manual – 3
Disabled – 4
Automatic (Delayed Start) – 2
One more way to Stop BITS:
>>> Go to start and on run write “regedit” and press enter
>>> Now go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetservicesBITS
locate Start registry key
>>> Double click on Start and edit the value:
Change Startup type :Automatic –
Manual –
Disabled –
Automatic (Delayed Start) –
Write number 4 at the place and click OK
Note: When you change to Automatic (Delayed Start) a new key DelayedAutostart is created with value 1.When you change to Automatic from Automatic (Delayed Start), DelayedAutostart change value to 0.
2nd Method:
>>>Open Task Manager (windows key+R, then type “taskmgr”)
>>>Click on service TAB
>>>Then click service button at the bottom
>>>Look for the “Background Intelligent Transfer Service”
>>>Now right click on that choose properties
>>>See startup type, choose ‘disabled’, Apply then OK.
You can check both the process any one can work for you…I’m sure it will help, and I tested it in Windows 8. It helped me in a similar situation.
If both 1st and 2nd methods are not working then try this method.
>>> Go to start and on run write “regedit” and press enter
>>> Now go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetservicesBITS
locate Start registry key
>>> Delete all the files available in BITS section.
After deleting all files in BITS section, the window will look like this. |
>>> That’s it. Now close the window and enjoy!
If you are using windows 10 and the above methods don’t work for you then try this link.
